SG brief: Resorts World Cruises

Resorts World Cruises is set to offer cruises from Singapore to Bintan, Batam, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Penang, starting from 1 July, with plans to add Phuket, Krabi and Bali, possibly by October, the Straits Times reported Wednesday, citing company president Michael Goh.

The trips will be made on the company’s Genting Dream ship, which was previously owned by a subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong, the report said. Genting Hong Kong did not survive the pandemic, filing for liquidation after taking a massive hit as Covid-related restrictions decimated leisure travel.

Malaysian tycoon Lim Kok Thay, who was formerly the CEO of Genting Hong Kong, is the ultimate owner of Resorts World Cruises.
