Sean Low Shieng Ang, who served at Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC for 17 years, was named as a senior advisor to provide advice on investment portfolio construction and asset allocation, the asset manager said in a filing to SGX Monday. YZJFH was recently spun off from Chinese shipbuilder Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (Holdings) and listed on Singapore Exchange.
Low’s last role at GIC was as senior vice president at GIC PE, first leading the private equity fund investment verticals and later the private credit and special opportunities group within the global investment strategy and risk team, the filing said.
Currently, Low is the CEO and chief investment officer of Golden Vision Capital (Singapore), a global private equity fund which is anchored by a leading Asian single-family office, the filing said.
Vincent Toe, CEO and chief investment officer of YZJFH said: “As we expand our investment footprint outside of China, Mr. Low’s appointment is in line with our strategy to build a strong Singapore-based team that has deep knowledge and skills in asset management, investing and risk control to propel our business growth.”
YZJFH’s main businesses are investment management, with investments in both public and private companies as funds and deploying funds, and the debt investment business. The company, via the acquisition of GEM Asset Management in April, has also entered the fund and wealth management business to generate recurring fee-based income.
Before its listing on SGX, YZJFH said its key investment themes would be late-stage companies, including pre-initial public offering (IPO) companies, ESG, New Economy, real estate and opportunistic investments, including as IPO anchor investors and special situations.
