Singapore 50 dollar bill

Synagie Corp. reported Wednesday the gross merchandise value for its sales during the 9 September 9.9 online-shopping event rose more than 300 percent on-year to more than S$1.0 million.

More than 190 of the brands using Synagie’s e-commerce services participated in the 9.9 event, the company said in a filing to SGX. The top-selling brands posted an average increase of more than 20 times their daily sales during the event, the filing said.

“We witnessed the strength and rise of Southeast Asia’s online shopping economy during this year’s 9.9 event with consumers across the region rushing to purchase our brand partner’s products at the stroke of midnight,” Olive Tai, co-founder and executive director of Synagie, said in the statement. “Our servers were filled with thousands of orders just minutes after the launch of the event.”

The online marketplaces participating in the annual 9.9 shopping event in Southeast Asia include Lazada, Shopee and Qoo10, the filing said, adding the event offers discounts and flash sales to draw shoppers.

Synagie’s services include assisting brands with selling online by managing multi-channel operations, including fulfilling orders, the filing said.
