Creative Tech says its Super X-Fi product will be added to laptops made by Taiwan’s Clevo

Singapore one dollar bill

Creative Technology announced Thursday it would work with OEM computer maker Clevo to include the Singapore company’s Super X-Fi sound technology into the Taiwanese company’s gaming laptops.

The Super X-Fi products use 3D sound for improved audio fidelity. Creative has said the headphones recreate the effect of a multi-speaker surround system.

Creative’s sound product will be included as a hardware device in the Clevo laptop, including using the Super X-Fi UltraDSP chip, the Singapore company said in a filing to SGX Thursday.

“We are ecstatic to be able to work with Clevo, which is a major manufacturer that designs and builds laptops for many well-known established household brands,” Lee Teck Chee, vice president of engineering and the inventor of Super X-Fi, said in the statement.

“This is the first OEM partnership we are announcing, so stay tuned for more,” Lee added, noting the product can be included in a variety of platforms, including devices, headphones, mobile phones and tablets.

The deal is in line with Creative’s announcement during the CES 2019 that it would focus on potential OEM deals, the filing said.

“The technology synergy achieved with this collaboration will give PC users a state-of-the-art headphone audio experience in a product space where movie and gaming content is fast becoming the main reason people purchase laptops,” Creative said.
