ComfortDelGro tapped Nicholas Yap to take on the role of country head and CEO for its Australian operations, effective 1 July, as part of a reorganization, the transportation company, said Monday.
“The reorganization is necessary to reflect the growing importance of our Australian operations. As we expand, not just in breadth but in depth, it is apparent that we would need a country head to oversee the various businesses,” said ComfortDelGro executive Yang Ban SengYang in a filing to SGX after the market close Monday.
Yap is currently CEO of ComfortDelGro Corp. Australia (VIC), the company said. Wayne Jeff, currently chief operating officer of CDC in New South Wales, will take over as CEO.
Under the reorganization plan, Cheng Siak Kian, currently CEO of CDC NSW, will return to Singapore to become chief operating officer of SBS Transit, effective 1 July, the filing said.
SBS Transit is ComfortDelGro’s Singapore-based bus and rail subsidiary.
ComfortDelGro invested around S$393 million in Australia in 2018 as part of an aggressive expansion, which included the acquisition of Buslink Group, one of Australia’s largest privately owned bus businesses, the filing said.
