Jumbo Group opens new seafood outlet in Singapore

Singapore one dollar bill

Iconic chilli crab purveyor Jumbo Group said on Wednesday that it opened a new Jumbo Seafood restaurant outlet in Singapore at the high-end ION Orchard mall in the city-state’s tony shopping district.

That brought its total Jumbo Seafood outlets in Singapore to six, and brought the total number of outlets in Asia to 17, it said in a filing to SGX after the market close on Wednesday.

It was the first new Jumbo Seafood outlet in Singapore in 10 years, and it was the first outlet in a Singapore mall, it said.

“While our efforts in the last five years have been focused in bringing our brand and sharing Singapore’s heritage dishes to other parts of the region, we are constantly on the look-out for good locations to expand our JUMBO Seafood network of restaurants in Singapore, and we believe that we have found an ideal location in ION Orchard,” Ang Kiam Meng, group CEO and executive director of Jumbo, said in the statement.

“JUMBO Seafood is a household name for Singaporeans and overseas visitors, and the heavy footfall of shoppers along Orchard Road bodes well for the restaurant,” Ang said.

The new outlet will cover 5,400 square feet, with seating capacity of 160, including four VIP rooms, the statement said.

Jumbo plans to open one more new Jumbo Seafood restaurant, one new Teochew cuisine restaurant and at least two more Tsui Wah “Cha Chaan Teng” outlets in Singapore, it said.
